COLOR CHANGE WRAP

What is a Color Change Wrap?

Picture yourself cruising in a vehicle that perfectly captures your unique style and personality, that’s the appeal of a color change wrap. It's more than a fresh look; it's a bold expression of who you are. No wonder it's becoming the top choice for car enthusiasts and style-conscious drivers alike.
Color change wraps are vinyl films professionally applied to your vehicle’s exterior to completely transform its appearance. Think of it as giving your car a brand-new identity - vibrant, sleek, and fully customizable. With endless colors and finishes available, you're not just changing your vehicle’s color, you're making a statement.

How Long Does a Car Wrap Last?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but in general, premium vinyl films typically last between 5-7 years, while standard films tend to hold up for around 2-3 years. Longevity can vary significantly based on how well the wrap is maintained.

For the best results and extended durability, we strongly recommend ceramic coating your wrap. This adds a protective UV barrier and makes routine cleaning much easier.

Do Car Wraps Damage Paint?

Whether a wrap will affect your vehicle’s paint depends largely on the condition of the existing finish. If the paint is in poor shape or the vehicle has been repainted—especially with low-quality or improperly applied paint, there’s a higher risk of paint damage or peeling when the wrap is removed.

For the best outcome, we recommend wrapping vehicles that are less than 5 years old and have high-quality, factory-original paint.
Note: We’ve successfully wrapped many older vehicles with no issues. With proper care and assessment, great results are still absolutely achievable.

Can You Wrap a Car with Scratches or Dents?

For the best results, wrap film manufacturers typically recommend applying vinyl to vehicles that are in excellent condition. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t wrap a car with minor imperfections. In fact, many of the vehicles we wrap have small scratches, rock chips, or minor dents.

Keep in mind that wraps do not fill in or hide damage, imperfections may still be visible through the film since it is basically a sticker over your paint although often they’re less noticeable once wrapped.

For best results, we suggest addressing any major repairs before wrapping your vehicle.

How Should I Prepare My Vehicle for a Wrap?

We ask that the vehicle be washed atleast 24 hours prior to the appointment date with dawn soap. For the vinyl to adhere properly, all dirt, grime or grease on the body must be cleaned throughly, such as:

  • Under wheel whels
  • Under the hood
  • Every surface of the car that can be accessed, even if it's not being wrapped, like the windows and glass
  • Seams between panels, headlights, taillights, bezels, etc.

Do not use car shampoo with waxes or tire shine. They can interfere with the vinyl wrap's ability to adhere properly.

If you prefer to have Proven Auto pre-wash your vehicle, there will be an additional charge.

Are Car Wraps Cheaper Than Paint?

It’s a common misconception that car wraps are more expensive than paint jobs. This usually happens when people compare the cost of a high-quality wrap to a low-end paint job.

In reality, when comparing professional-grade work on both ends, a premium paint job will almost always cost significantly more than a professionally installed wrap. Wraps offer a more cost-effective way to change your vehicle’s appearance without the high price tag of top-tier automotive painting.

How Much Does a Car Wrap Cost?

The cost of a car wrap can vary based on several factors, including the type of film, vehicle size, complexity of the wrap, If your vehicle already has a wrap that needs removal, or if there are paint issues to address before applying the new wrap, these additional steps will factor into the final price.

Maintenance & Care

🧼 Cleaning Guidelines

Caring for your wrap is easy with a little extra attention:
🚗 Hand wash only – Skip the automatic car washes. Their brushes can be too rough and may scratch or lift the vinyl.
🚗 Use pH-neutral soap and soft microfiber cloths to gently clean the surface without causing damage.
🚗 Avoid high-pressure water near edges and seams. Excessive pressure can cause the wrap to peel or lift.
🚗 For tough spots like bird droppings or tree sap, soak the area with warm soapy water first. Gently wipe clean—never scrub harshly.
🚗 Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all soap residue.
🚗 Dry with care using a soft microfiber towel or allow the vehicle to air dry.
🚗 Spot treat stains using isopropyl alcohol—but only in small amounts and always test on a hidden area first.

  • Clean your vehicle frequently to prevent dirt, grime, and pollutants from building up.
  • Hand washing is the safest method. Avoid automatic car washes, especially those with brushes.

By following these tips, you’ll keep your wrap looking fresh and vibrant for years to come.

Can I Wax My Vehicle After It’s Wrapped?

Waxing a vinyl-wrapped vehicle is generally not recommended, as it can lead to discoloration or damage the wrap. Instead, use cleaning and maintenance products specifically formulated for vinyl wraps to preserve the finish and extend the life of the wrap.

We offer a Wrap Detail Kit tailored for proper wrap care available for purchase to help you keep your vehicle looking its best.

Can I Take My Wrapped Vehicle Through an Automatic Car Wash?

While you can take a wrapped vehicle through an automatic car wash, hand washing is strongly recommended. Automatic washes especially those with brushes can cause premature wear, lifting, or scratching of the vinyl, particularly on wraps with matte, satin, or textured finishes.

For best results and to extend the life of your wrap, stick with gentle hand washing using wrap-safe cleaning products.
